The spirit is wonderfully aromatic with bay and dried ginger. There is a syrupy sweetness which is well integrated with the peat – Orgeat syrup mixed with ash. Under dilution, I get grist, seashells and smoked pineapple.

Palate – The palate immediately takes you to the South side of Islay! The peat begins to dissipate and the spices appear again, there is also a lovely charred sweet nuttiness which reminds me of almond brittle. BMX tyre (in a good way!), black cardamom. Dilution softens and integrated everything – feels much older than 3, no harshness.

Finish – Spearmint, tar, hessian and aromatic spices.
